Biology Instructor
The Biology Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in biological sciences courses, including both lecture and laboratory formats. The role supports student learning through traditional and online modalities, including asynchronous instruction. The instructor contributes to the academic mission of the college by maintaining instructional standards and engaging in departmental activities.

Instruction:
- Teach biology courses in both lecture and laboratory formats
- Deliver instruction in asynchronous online and traditional classroom settings
- Develop and maintain course materials, syllabi, and assessments
- Evaluate and grade student performance in a timely manner
Program Support:
- Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum development
- Support program initiatives and student success efforts
- Maintain knowledge of current developments in the biological sciences
Administration:
- Complete required distance learning training within the first semester of employment
- Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports
- Comply with college policies, procedures, and accreditation standards
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Biology or a related field; or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in a qualifying biological science discipline; or a medical degree (M.D., D.O., D.P.M., or D.V.M.)
- Willingness to teach both lecture and laboratory courses in an asynchronous online format
- Commitment to complete required distance learning training during the first semester of employment
- Preferred:
College-level teaching experience in both online and in-person settings - Must pass employment verification, reference screening, and a background check
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of biological science principles and laboratory practices
- Ability to teach in both online and in-person environments
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to develop instructional materials and assess student learning
- Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
Ergonomic Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer and instructional technology for prolonged periods
- Ability to communicate effectively in classroom and online environments
