Are you passionate about making a profound impact on the lives of visually impaired students? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in the great sunshine state of Florida!
Position Overview: As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will play a crucial role in empowering students with visual impairments to thrive academically and personally. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing tailored educational plans, utilizing innovative teaching methods, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and other adaptive skills.
- Collaborate with educators and family on individualized education plans (IEPs) to address each student's vision needs.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other educators to create a supportive learning environment.
- Stay informed about the latest assistive technologies and incorporate them into the teaching curriculum.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes the overall well-being of visually impaired students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on visual impairments.
- Florida State Department of Ed. Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
- Strong knowledge of Braille and proficiency in adaptive technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
