Position Goal
Assist Physician(s) in Clinic with patient care activities. Complete administrative duties as required.
Responsibilities- Familiarity with what the physician requires for a productive clinic.
- Accompany provider into the patient examination room to transcribe patient history and exams accurately, documenting the provider’s encounter with patients and others present (if applicable).
- Accurately enter tests and procedures as ordered by provider and review charts.
- Ensure all tests ordered are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Accurately document patient information in EMR chart per physician dictation.
- Review and maintain charts to ensure completeness/EMR guidelines when reviewing clinicals.
- Escort patients from waiting area to triage area, ranging from those with full mobility to limited mobility.
- Constantly monitor schedules and patient flow during clinic to ensure maximum efficiency and organization.
- Review initial vital signs evaluation to include any lab specimens.
- Remove staples, sutures, and assist with minor surgical procedures as needed.
- Assist with placement, removal, and instruction of DME devices such as splints, casting, immobilizers, braces, and bandages.
- Clean and sterilize equipment using approved techniques.
- Clean and stock exam rooms and change sheets on exam tables after each patient.
- Communicate restrictions and instructions to patients.
- Follow up with patients after surgery or other invasive procedures to document their progress.
- Communicate with outside facilities for scheduling tests or surgery, including having any necessary orders, pre‑cert, or referral information ready.
- Complete insurance, disability, and FMLA forms in a timely manner.
- Assist in administrative duties as required, which may include collection of past‑due balances when scheduling surgery, check‑in/check‑out, scheduling appointments, procedures, and pre‑cert procedures, insurance verification, data entry, posting charges, and assisting secretaries.
- One (1) year relevant healthcare experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- Valid Driver’s License, satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) and proof of insurance required for onboarding.
- Annual MVR may be required per policy and procedure; background reports may be run as needed throughout the course of employment.
- Must be able to work independently and have working knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
- Maintain BLS certification.
- Knowledge of the Athena Net system and medical specialty terminology.
- This position may require irregular work hours.
