Accountant I – Cal Optima

Accountant I – A mission‑driven, community‑based organization focused on member health, equity, and dignity. The role supports the Preparation, Recording, Reconciliation, and Reporting of accounting and business transactions for Cal Optima Health while collaborating across finance and other departments.

• This position performs professional level accounting functions to support the general ledger, management reports, and financial reporting of Cal Optima Health’s operations.
• Maintains the general ledger system, prepares account reconciliations, and assists in closing the books accurately and on schedule, both monthly and annually.
• Prepares financial schedules, statutory reporting requirements, and supporting documentation for audits.
• Proposes accruals and journal entries as appropriate, analyzes trends and budget variances, and assists in financial audits.
• Manages accounts receivable responsibilities and collaborates with internal stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Provides administrative support, maintains departmental records, and collects data for regulatory purposes.
• Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
• Works independently, exercises sound judgment, and communicates clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Manages multiple projects and identifies opportunities for collaboration.
• Works a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required.
• Utilizes computer and accounting software, including Microsoft Office and job‑specific applications.
• Engages in a fast‑paced environment and adapts to changing priorities.
• Possesses project management skills and can motivate and lead multi‑program teams.
• Requires the ability to read, write, and speak clearly and the ability to meet physical demands such as sitting, standing, and lifting 10 to 25 pounds.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• One (1) year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
• Experience with Facets.
