Accountant I – Job OverviewWe are seeking an Accountant I to support our Accounting team in preparing, recording, and reconciling financial transactions, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with financial reporting for Cal Optima Health, and participating in audits and statutory reporting. This position supports the organization’s goal of providing equitable health care and is approved for partial telework.
Key Responsibilities- Support accounting functions, including preparation of financial schedules, account reconciliations, journal entries, and assistance with books closing monthly and annually.
- Assist in financial audits and statutory reporting requirements.
- Process accounts receivable responsibilities and propose accruals and adjustments as needed.
- Analyze trends and budget variances.
- Maintain departmental records, collect data for regulatory purposes, and complete additional projects or duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field plus one year of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and collaborate across teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable using accounting software.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or other ERP software.
- Experience with Facets.
- Ability to read and write on computer screens and printed materials.
- Clear verbal communication.
- Manual dexterity to type, write, and perform routine physical tasks up to 25 pounds.
- Competitive compensation:
Pay Grade 307, salary range $60,533 – $93,826. - Partial telework:
Eligible for telework within California with a requirement of at least two days in the Orange, CA office per week. - Comprehensive benefits package: health, dental, vision, disability, and retirement plans including CalPERS.
