Community & Events Manager

Help us build a community before we even open our doors! At Brella, we're on a mission to make child care better. We believe today's families deserve high-quality early education that's flexible, accessible, and designed around real life—not the other way around.

As we prepare to expand to Orange County, we're looking for an outgoing, organized, relationship-driven Community & Events Manager to help introduce Brella to local families. You'll become one of the first faces of Brella in the community—hosting events, connecting with parents, building local partnerships, and helping future families discover a new kind of child care.

If you love meeting people, organizing events, supporting families, and bringing communities together, we'd love to meet you.

About the Role

You'll work closely with Brella's marketing team to execute our local community engagement strategy leading up to a new center opening. This is a part-time, temporary/project-based, hourly role expected to average approximately 10–15 hours per week, with hours varying based on event schedule and project needs. Must have evening and weekend availability based on event needs.

As a Community & Events Manager, You Will:
  • Host approximately 2 community events each week (coffee meetups, story times, park playdates, parent groups, family festivals, etc.)
  • Identify new opportunities for Brella to connect with local families, including pediatric offices, libraries, coffee shops, fitness studios, parent organizations, schools, community groups, and local businesses.
  • Build authentic relationships with community partners and represent Brella professionally at every interaction.
  • Encourage families to join our interest list, schedule tours, and learn more about our programs.
  • Collect email sign-ups and event leads while creating warm, welcoming conversations with prospective families.
  • Coordinate event logistics including supplies, setup, scheduling, and follow-up.
  • Work with the marketing team to promote upcoming events through community calendars, Facebook groups, Eventbrite, newsletters, and other local channels.
  • Capture photos, attendee feedback, and event recaps to help us continuously improve.
  • Share ideas for new community partnerships and creative ways to increase awareness throughout Newport Beach and surrounding communities in Orange County.
Ideal Experience and Knowledge:
  • Event planning or event coordination
  • Community engagement or grassroots marketing
  • Brand ambassador experience
  • Sales, hospitality, customer success, or business development
  • Parent organizations, nonprofit, education, or family-focused organizations
  • Social media and community outreach
You Are Someone Who Is:
  • Naturally outgoing and enjoys talking with new people.
  • Passionate about supporting families and young children.
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple projects independently.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and able to make things happen.
  • Comfortable representing a brand in public settings.
  • Sales-minded without feeling "salesy."
  • Already plugged into or excited to become an active member of the Newport Beach parenting community.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable, professional, and able to commit through the duration of the project.
Benefits

This is a part-time, temporary/project-based hourly role. This role is eligible for:

  • Sick & Safe Time
  • Flexible, part-time scheduling based on event schedule and project needs
  • A mission-driven, supportive, and collaborative work environment

The pay range for this part-time, project-based position is $28.00 - $33.00/hour, with final compensation determined based on experience and qualifications.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods during community events, including both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to lift, carry, set up, and break down event materials and supplies, generally up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to load, unload, and transport event materials between locations, which may include walking short distances from parking areas to event spaces.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and kneel as needed to set up tables, signage, activity materials, and event displays.
  • Ability to use a phone, tablet, or computer for event coordination, lead capture, photos/content submission, and communication with the Brella team.
