Procurement Specialist

University of California, Irvine is hiring a Procurement Specialist. The role involves independently managing procurement processes, evaluating requisitions, and negotiating terms for purchases of research, office, and technical materials while ensuring compliance with university policies. The specialist also provides guidance for reimbursements and disbursements and resolves procurement-related issues.

• Manage purchasing assignments of moderate complexity for a wide range of goods and services.
• Evaluate requisitions, identify vendors, obtain quotations, and negotiate terms for orders under $5000.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Risk Services for orders exceeding $5000 and maintain documentation.
• Provide guidance on reimbursements, disbursements, and various payment types including international travel and contracts.
• Use Microsoft Office, Google software, and Adobe at a working proficiency level.
• Requires analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication, and knowledge of purchasing, shipping, and warranty terminology.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 1-3 years of related work experience preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP/financial systems such as Oracle, People Soft, SAP, or Banner is preferred.
• May require occasional evening hours, overtime, and travel between campus offices and clinics.
• Compensation ranges from $29.74 to $51.29 per hour, with benefits including medical insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
