Superintendent / Senior Superintendent (Confidential Client)

Location: Southern California (Orange County or Greater Los Angeles Area)

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Project Type: DSA, K-14 Ground-Up

Reports To: General Superintendent

Position Overview

Our client is a highly respected, financially stable, mid‑sized general contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high‑quality construction projects throughout California. They are seeking an experienced Superintendent or Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on large‑scale ground‑up developments in Southern California. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of on‑site execution, including planning, scheduling, safety, quality control, cost management, documentation, and subcontractor coordination.

The role requires a hands‑on field leader who excels at driving schedules, maintaining strong relationships, and delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all field operations, including job planning, scheduling, site logistics, and daily construction activities
  • Review and interpret construction documents; coordinate across design disciplines
  • Develop, maintain, and track project schedules and labor requirements
  • Review project estimates, subcontractor scopes, and procurement plans
  • Identify long‑lead items and proactively manage material delivery schedules
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors and trade partners
  • Identify special safety, site‑specific, and weather‑related requirements
  • Work closely with Safety Managers to enforce all safety standards and protocols
  • Ensure all permit requirements, inspections, and jurisdictional approvals are obtained and maintained
  • Identify, elevate, and resolve field issues that may impact schedule, cost, or quality
  • Maintain appropriate jobsite conduct and professionalism for all personnel and trades
  • Manage and maintain all project documentation, including permits, drawings, and field reports
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal team members
  • Monitor labor productivity and material costs on a weekly basis
  • Review subcontractor billings in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Participate in monthly schedule and cost reviews, including analysis of labor and material performance
  • Consistently meet or exceed client expectations
Project Experience Requirements
  • Experience delivering ground‑up projects valued at $50M–$100M+
  • Background in one or more of the following project types:
  • Multifamily and affordable housing
  • K-14 educational facilities
  • Proven ability to manage complex schedules, multiple trades, and demanding stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10+ years of construction experience, including leadership on large, complex projects
  • Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop field staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera P6, Suretrak, or similar)
  • Exposure to construction or project management software (CMiC or similar platforms)
  • Strong understanding of safety compliance, quality control, and cost management
