With a heart for worship and a strong faith communicated through music and leadership style, working cooperatively at the supervision of the Director of Worship and Music, the Contemporary Worship Leader will be successful in the effort to win the hearts of people for Jesus Christ and His redeeming power.
contemporary worship leader TEMP (6 MONTHS) GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe focus of this position is to cultivate the worship band community. With a heart for worship and a strong faith communicated through music and leadership style, working cooperatively at the supervision of the Director of Worship and Music, the Contemporary Worship Leader will be successful in the effort to win the hearts of people for Jesus Christ and His redeeming power.
- Faith and Ministry Requirements: Must attend St. John’s Lutheran Church new member classes or be a current church member.

Skills:
Demonstrates a strong understanding of worship band genres and their stylistic characteristics, with the ability to plan, lead, and facilitate rehearsals efficiently, thoughtfully, and to a high standard of quality; provides confident and effective leadership to musicians, applies strong musical skills to support and lead congregational worship, and demonstrates proficiency on keyboard and/or guitar
- Leads praise band teams for weekly Sunday morning contemporary worship services, including rehearsals, warmups, sound checks, and musical preparation.
- Leads music for special services, including Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter, and Confirmation Sunday, serving as the primary music point person for each service.
- Fosters a worshipful atmosphere by leading musicians with confidence, clarity, and distinction while creating opportunities for volunteer vocalists and instrumentalists to contribute and excel.
- Coaches and develops volunteer vocalists and instrumentalists through individual and group instruction, helping team members strengthen their musical skills, prepare for services, and learn new music.
- Prepares click tracks, stem tracks, and practice tracks for worship services using Ableton Live and Praise Tracks, and reviews worship presentation slides using Pro Presenter.
- Coordinates and schedules worship team members, developing rotating teams that thoughtfully blend experienced and developing musicians while fostering a harmonious, encouraging, and collaborative environment among volunteers and paid musicians.
- Communicates service details, schedules, music, sheet music, practice materials, and other relevant information to team members through personal communication and Planning Center.
FLSA STATUS: PART TIME; 20 HOURS/ WEEK
SALARY RANGE: $33.00 - $34.62 HOURLY
