Your Role on the TeamPosition Summary: The parking representative serves staff, patients, and visitors by maintaining compliance with parking rules and regulations. Under general supervision, oversees vehicle management and tracking for Medical Center visitors and patients, providing the highest level of customer service in accordance with department policies and procedures. The incumbent staffs information booths and parking kiosks, and provides valet services. Addresses customer concerns or complaints regarding parking operations in a timely, respectful, and professional manner, referring to the appropriate person in parking services when necessary.
Greets visitors, assists with unloading bags, parks and retrieves vehicles in parking structures safely, following all policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of computer systems and software
- Skill in interacting diplomatically and courteously with the public in a high-volume, public-contact setting involving guests, faculty, staff, students, hospital patients, and visitors to Medical Center
- Must successfully complete an FBI fingerprinting process and maintain the successful completion of FBI fingerprinting throughout employment
- Possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Possess and maintain a valid California driver's license
- Demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Available to work alternate work schedules and overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background investigation
- Contingent upon completion of satisfactory background investigation; position is subject to the California DMV's Pull Notice System and continued employment requires a satisfactory driving record
- Demonstrated skills in mathematics and cash handling to maintain accuracy and accountability for cash, tickets, and refunds
- Demonstrated ability to make appropriate job decisions using standard policies and procedures as guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to assess problematic or emergency situations and plan/execute an appropriate solution based on established guidelines
- Ability to work outside year-round in inclement and mild weather, using department-provided foul weather gear
- Ability to work in an underground parking garage
- Ability to stand and/or walk for the entire shift
- Ability to communicate effectively one-to-one with people of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to see the impact of actions on the organization and provide professional written or verbal information
- Ability to operate both manual and standard transmission vehicles
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to hear and understand ordinary dispatch communications over a 2-way radio
- Ability to handle highly confidential matters with tact and discretion
- Ability to function as a team member and collaborate with colleagues and medical area partners
- Ability to exercise judgment and take appropriate action when answers are not readily apparent
- Ability to explain directional information based on campus and parking area layouts
