Position Summary
The parking representative serves and assists staff, patients, and visitors, maintaining compliance with parking rules and regulations. Under general supervision, the incumbent oversees vehicle management and tracking for Medical Center visitors and patients, staffs information booths, parking kiosks, and provides valet services. Customer concerns regarding parking operations are addressed promptly and professionally. The parking representative also greets visitors, assists with unloading bags, parks vehicles in structures, and retrieves them safely.
Required Qualifications- Working knowledge of computer systems and software.
- Diplomatic and courteous interaction with the public in high-volume settings.
- Successful completion of FBI fingerprinting and maintenance throughout employment.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Customer service skills.
- Availability for alternate schedules, overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Successful completion of background investigation and satisfactory driving record.
- Mathematics and cash handling skills for accurate ticket and refund processing.
- Ability to make appropriate job decisions using standard policies and procedures.
- Ability to assess problematic situations and execute solutions based on guidelines.
- Courtship of inclement weather and ability to stand/walk entire shift.
- Verbal communication with diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Teamwork and cooperative relationships with colleagues and partners such as security, UCPD, etc.
- Judgment, discretion, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to articulate directional information based on campus layout.
- Manual and automatic transmission vehicle operation.
- Work pace maintenance appropriate to workload.
- Radio communication competency.
- Knowledge of parking equipment such as pay stations, automated valet systems, and handheld computers.
- Knowledge of parking enforcement and traffic control regulations.
- Knowledge of University and medical center policies and procedures.
