Description

Chapman University seeks applications for a one-year, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor Chemistry beginning in August, 2026.

The undergraduate-only serving Chemistry and Biochemistry Program is home to faculty with specializations in a broad range of fields, including physical, organic, analytical, inorganic, and biochemistry. The ACS accredited B.S. Chemistry program and the ASBMB accredited B.S. Biochemistry program are characterized by personalized education, small class sizes, innovative teaching, and strong student-faculty interactions.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach lectures for semester-long courses of organic chemistry and/or general chemistry core requirements for science majors. Responsibilities will include holding student office hours, personalized student mentoring, and grading, as well as participating in program faculty meetings and activities.

This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapman's Orange campus.

Qualifications
  • An MSc in Chemistry (PhD preferred.)
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching organic chemistry and/or general chemistry.
  • Experience teaching a diverse range of undergraduate students in a lecture environment utilizing evidence-based instructional approaches and inclusive classroom management strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
To qualify for the rank of Clinical Instructional Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold a doctoral degree.
