Position Summary
This position works on a casual, as‑needed basis, assisting in developing strength, speed, agility, nutrition, flexibility, and conditioning programs for student‑athletes in all sports, evaluating and maximizing the efficiency of each player. The athletic platform is used as a ministry for reaching lives for Christ.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Assist in the development of strength, speed, agility, nutrition, flexibility, and conditioning programs for student‑athletes in all sports.
- Teach dynamic style and strength movements.
- Develop year‑round strength and conditioning style.
- Help administer and organize APE classes.
- Oversee day‑to‑day tasks in strength, conditioning, and performance.
- Teach team coaches applicable strength and conditioning information.
- Maintain weight room facility in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
- Assist with administering tests and data entry.
- Teach proper restoration methods.
- Report disciplinary matters as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Education: BA or BS Degree in Sports Performance, Kinesiology, or physical education; fifth‑year training program or certificate. Masters degree preferred.
- Experience: Two to four years related experience or training, or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed.
- Valid Fingerprint, CPR, TB, and First Aid certifications.
- Ministry Safe Clearance.
- National Strength and Conditional Association certification preferred.
- Valid California Driver's License.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning equipment.
- Knowledge of CIF rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
- Knowledge and training in first aid procedures required for handling athletic‑related injuries.
- Knowledge of how to operate whirlpools, weight machines, and sports aid equipment.
- Knowledge of strength training and fitness programming for diverse populations.
- Possess strong motivational and disciplinary abilities.
- Ability to interact positively with student‑athletes, colleagues, and the public.
- Strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal/human relations skills.
- Supervisory skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work occasionally after hours or on weekends as needed.
- Exhibits the highest level of Christian integrity — life reflects Christ‑like morals, behavior, attitude, and leadership.
- Ability to articulate Christian faith.
- Active member of a Christian church;
Missouri Synod preferred. - Supports the Mission and Statement of Faith of Orange Lutheran High School.
- Frequently required to stand for extended periods, speak clearly, hear accurately, and move about the campus, gymnasium, or athletic field.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls, and smell.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, push, pull, squat, kneel, or bend.
- Specific vision abilities: near and far vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Typical working environment is an indoor weight room, with occasional exposure to outside assignments with varying climatic conditions.
- Exposure to cold and hot temperatures.
- Typical noise level is quiet to moderate but may occasionally be loud.
- Employees are expected to exercise caution and comply with safety regulations and school policies/procedures.
