Fieldpiece is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer – Design & Verification to play a critical role in ensuring the performance, safety, and reliability of our HVAC recovery and vacuum pump products. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Quality Assurance engineer who thrives at the intersection of design, verification, and hands‑on testing. You bring deep experience validating electromechanical products, are comfortable performing engineering calculations to confirm real‑world performance, and enjoy building and troubleshooting test environments. You’re detail‑oriented, data‑driven, and collaborative—able to challenge designs constructively while partnering closely with engineering and manufacturing teams. Above all, you care deeply about product quality, regulatory compliance, and delivering reliable tools that professionals trust in the field.

What

You’ll Do Design Quality & Development
  • Own quality assurance activities across all phases of product development for HVAC recovery and vacuum pumps.
  • Ensure quality in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system designs.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and load requirements to validate pump performance.
  • Create and maintain QA engineering documentation, specifications, and analyses, including Cpk and SPC data.
  • Build, test, and evaluate physical prototypes to validate performance against requirements.
Verification & Validation
  • Develop and continuously improve quality methodologies, standards, and processes.
  • Create robust verification and validation (IOVV) test plans covering performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Design and maintain test benches and environments that simulate real-world operating conditions.
  • Execute test cases, analyze results, identify root causes, and support design debugging.
  • Ensure full traceability of requirements through verification results and integration into DFMEA documentation.
Collaboration & Compliance
  • Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing informed and actionable QA validation feedback.
  • Support manufacturing ramp‑up and help resolve quality issues during production and field use.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA refrigerant handling guidelines, ISO 9001:2015, and U.S. and international electrical safety standards, including IECEx and ATEX.
  • Collaborate with overseas ODM/OEM partners and participate in process and quality audits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive Quality Assurance experience in a product‑based environment with hardware, firmware, and software components.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles; experience with pumps, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and hydraulics strongly preferred.
