Federal Planning GIS Analyst - Entry Level

Urban Planner position at AECOM, Orange, CA.

The Federal Planner 1 role is an entry‑level position focused on federal projects, primarily for military installations. It is part of a team that works on planning and development initiatives for federal agencies or projects funded by federal programs.

• Assist in the preparation of planning documents, such as feasibility studies and master plans.
• Conduct research and data analysis to support federal projects.
• Support workshop facilitators with note‑taking and logistics.
• Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create maps and analyze spatial data for federal projects.

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and none or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience working with MS Office (Project), GIS (Arc Urban, ArcGIS), Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
• High‑level GIS user skills (e.g., Arc Urban, ArcGIS).
• Intellectual curiosity and a diverse set of interests informing your urban planning design perspective.
