AECOM is seeking a Structure Representative/Construction Manager for our Orange, CA office. The Structures Representative provides technical leadership for complex construction management projects supervising construction engineering and inspection activities. This person must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently making decisions on significant construction engineering problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide independent technical review and analysis of contractor submittals, including shoring, falsework, post-tensioning systems, bridge demolition/removal plans, and other structural work plans.
- Review and evaluate change orders, RFIs, shop drawings, material testing results, surveying data, and engineering drawings; prepare professional correspondence and recommendations.
- Perform a wide range of structural construction engineering activities involving bridges, retaining walls, sound walls, pump stations, buildings, and related infrastructure.
- Verify the acceptability of materials incorporated into the work and maintain required inspection and material documentation.
- Execute field inspections and oversee structures-related construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements, plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Administer construction contracts, including change order development, documentation, and implementation.
- Participate in contract claims analysis, dispute resolution, and claim avoidance efforts.
- Monitor and review contractor construction schedules and assess impacts to project delivery.
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, construction diaries, project records, and other required documentation.
- Serve in the capacity of Resident Engineer when delegated or during periods of absence.
- Serve as a primary point of contact with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate project activities with contractors, utility owners, public agencies, and project team members to support successful project delivery.
- Work collaboratively with field inspectors, engineering staff, and project management teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Provide supervision, direction, and mentorship to professional and technical staff.
- Assist with staff recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Support effective resource planning and team management to meet project and organizational goals.
- BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) highly preferred.
- Valid California Class C driver s license and an acceptable driver’s record are required.
- 10+ years construction contract management experience related to bridge and/or structures construction projects.
