Engineering Geologist II - Dams & Water Structures Focus
AECOM is currently seeking Engineering Geologist candidates to support Geo-Civil projects from our Orange, California office.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization.
- Provide support on the design and installation of ground water wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP's, inclinometers, transducers, etc.)
- Provide interpretation of site conditions including geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data and preparing geotechnical and geologic reports.
- Developing geologic models for complex geologic site conditions;
- Conducting geologic research, and developing innovative ways to advance projects with the latest technologies;
- Performing liaison activities with regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal agencies) on behalf of our clients;
- Collaborating with geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs.
- Assisting in the preparation of project documentation including reports, project communications, and design drawings and report figures that are of a high professional standard.
- Written communication skills in the form of technical reports are a must.
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.
- Valid US Drivers License required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Geological Engineering (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with complex subsurface investigations including soil and rock core drilling
- Installation of piezometers and geotechnical instrumentation
- Willingness to travel regularly for domestic and international projects while conducting physically rigorous field geologic data collection in a variety of extreme terrain and weather conditions
- Ability to work on multiple project tasks and meet deadlines with aggressive schedules efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and work product quality
- Must have excellent communication and writing skills. Written communication skills in the form of geotechnical/geologic data reporting is necessary.
- GIT Certification
- Experience with geotechnical projects including dams, mine tailings dams and water storage dams
- Analytical skills and knowledge of geological and geotechnical software (i.e., Roc Science, Geo-Slope, gINT, etc.).

- Relocation is not available for this position.
- U.S. work sponsorship not available at this time or in the foreseeable future
- Occasional project site travel required.
