Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a highly motivated and focused Geology Engineering Practice Leader to build, develop and support Geo-Civil projects for AECOM's Southern California (SoCal) practice.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients in civil infrastructure and mining by providing technical expertise, attending client and project meetings, managing client expectations, and supporting business development pursuits.
  • Plan, budget and execute surface and subsurface field geologic and geotechnical exploration and manage support staff required to execute investigations.
  • Drive and support project pursuits and contribute to business development efforts in California and the western United States.
  • Provide strong team management, mentoring, staff scheduling and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
  • Build and drive collaborations with and between geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs.
  • Prepare proposals, cost estimates and schedules.
  • Perform and direct geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization.
  • Provide support on the design and installation of groundwater wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP’s, inclinometers, transducers, etc.).
  • Interpret site conditions including geologic, geochemical and geophysical data.
  • Develop geologic models for complex site conditions.
  • Review and understand regulatory guidelines and industry standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work on dams.
  • Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies (local, state, federal) on behalf of the client.
  • Provide strong written and verbal communications with clear, concise technical reports and documents, and deliver quality in-person or remote client and organizational presentations.
  • Mentor junior geologic staff to support their development and success.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Geology Engineering, Geology or Earth Science & 8+ years of relevant experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • California Professional Geologist (PG).
  • Valid US driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSc in Geology, Engineering Geology or Earth Science with 2 years of project management experience.
  • California Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG).
Additional Information
  • Regular project site travel may be required (up to 25%).
  • No sponsorship available for this opportunity.
  • No relocation will be available for this opportunity.
Compensation

Range: $100,000 to $160,000 per year.

Onboarding Requirement

All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
