Water/Wastewater Conveyance Technical Leader/Senior Project Manager

Location:

California – Orange County or Los Angeles County (Hybrid). Compensation: USD 175,000 – 227,000 per year.

We are looking for a creative, highly talented professional with in-depth design engineering experience in municipal public right-of-way conveyance and pumping systems to lead technical and project delivery for water, wastewater, and stormwater design projects.

• Collaborate with regional and national AECOM experts and across business lines to bring cutting‑edge solutions to clients and seek new municipal business opportunities.
• Work with senior technical staff and marketing to deliver winning proposals.
• Serve as Client Services Manager for select clients.
• Conduct planning and staff meetings.
• Oversee the successful delivery of technical work.
• Serve as Seller/Doer, Project Manager, and technical lead for the planning, design, permitting and construction of water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects, including new construction, rehabilitation/renewal, and public right‑of‑way utility relocation.
• Oversee project elements including reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and construction phase engineering services.
• Perform project management activities including coordination with clients, sub‑consultants, regulatory agencies; scope, schedule, and budget development; project team coordination; interdisciplinary coordination; budget and schedule tracking; invoicing; and payment of consultants and contractors.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and provide professional growth opportunities for team members – with a focus on water/wastewater conveyance.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, and ability to successfully direct multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Education and certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering (or related field) and a minimum of 10 years of progressive water/wastewater engineering experience, including planning, design, and construction of municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects.
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

• Licensed Professional Engineer in CA, or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within 6 months of employment.
• 15+ years of progressive water/wastewater engineering experience, including new construction, rehabilitation/renewal, and public right‑of‑way utility relocation.
• Experience in preparation of engineering proposals and business development.
• Experience managing projects by alternative delivery approaches such as design/build, progressive design/build, and construction management at risk.
• Effective communication and coordination skills with clients, public, regulatory staff, sub‑consultants, and internal technical staff.
• Demonstrated project management fundamentals and proven track record of technical leadership in water and wastewater projects.
• Experience supervising engineering professionals and strong staff development, mentoring, and management skills.
• Track record of leading technical engineering and delivering projects that secured additional client work.
• Position requires occasional business travel of one to three days per month.
