AECOM is seeking a California Traffic Engineering State Manager to be based in Orange, Los Angeles or Oakland, California. The role is responsible for coordinating and executing mid- to large-size traffic engineering projects across California, building strong client relationships, and leading technical business development and marketing efforts.
Job Responsibilities- Coordinate and provide technical expertise for mid- to large-size projects.
- Lead technical client relationships and play a major role in selling.
- Lead discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.
- Lead technical business development work.
- Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Approve and sign off on work.
- Act as a leader in one or more areas of technology.
- Provide estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large, complex projects.
- Manage the traffic engineering staff on a daily basis throughout California.
- Lead traffic engineering projects and traffic design tasks throughout California.
- Lead marketing and proposal efforts for traffic engineering projects.
- Be responsible for plan approvals for Caltrans and other major agencies.
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills to discuss projects with co‑workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, AECOM staff, and the public in meetings and at public events, as well as write concise and readable technical reports and documents.
- Support a wide range of traffic engineering projects for roadway, freeway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
- Maintain high self‑motivation, multi‑task effectively, perform detail‑oriented work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered, apply innovative design solutions, and implement current technology to meet project design needs.
- Guide, mentor and coach engineers or technicians to improve their technical skills.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.
- Be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and preferably Project); skilled in Micro Station and AutoCAD software.
- BS plus ten (10) years of relevant experience and demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- California PE or TE license.
- 12+ years of traffic engineering management experience.
- 6+ years of job‑related experience in California.
- Highly self‑motivated with the ability to successfully multi‑task, perform detail‑oriented work, work independently, demonstrate effective time management skills, and consistently deliver high quality deliverables.
