As a Senior Test Engineer, you’ll take ownership of verification and validation activities throughout the new product development process. You’ll translate product requirements into comprehensive test strategies, develop test methods and laboratory capabilities, perform hands-on testing, analyze results, and provide recommendations that directly influence product design, quality, performance, and reliability.

This is a highly hands-on role for an experienced engineer who can independently determine what needs to be tested, develop the appropriate methods and equipment, and drive the work forward. You’ll collaborate across mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, systems, quality, manufacturing, product management, and project management teams while helping Fieldpiece strengthen its test automation, data acquisition, and laboratory capabilities.

This position is based in our Orange, CA office with an exciting move to Tustin, CA in 2028. We have a hybrid work schedule, with employees typically working onsite three days per week. Additional onsite days may be required for laboratory testing, product development activities, team collaboration, or other business needs. Travel is expected to be up to 10%.What You’ll DoDevelop verification and validation strategies, test plans, procedures, acceptance criteria, and reporting methods based on product requirements and technical risks.

Translate requirements into effective test methods that evaluate product functionality, performance, reliability, durability, and readiness.

Design and build test fixtures, instrumentation, laboratory setups, automated test systems, and data acquisition methods.

Execute functional, performance, reliability, environmental, prototype, laboratory, and field testing throughout the product development lifecycle.

Troubleshoot product failures, test equipment, and unexpected results; analyze data and recommend corrective actions, design improvements, and follow-up testing.

Maintain verification documentation, requirements traceability, testing schedules, resource needs, and technical reports.

Coordinate testing with cross-functional teams, external laboratories, suppliers, and engineering partners.

Provide technical guidance to Test Technicians and help improve Fieldpiece’s laboratory capabilities, automation, and test engineering processes.
