We are currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineering Manager who could help our team to grow.
Salary Range$150,000 - $190,000 annually
About the JobAs a Geotechnical Engineering Manager, you will provide technical and operational leadership for a variety of geotechnical engineering projects. You will manage engineers and technical staff, oversee daily operations, and provide guidance on geotechnical and geological matters throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will include overseeing geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, design recommendations, QA/QC practices, and project reporting. Manage project budgets, staffing, utilization, invoicing, and profitability while supporting business development and maintaining strong relationships with clients, agencies, engineers, architects, and contractors.
Mentor junior staff, promote high technical standards, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with applicable requirements.
Job Duties
- Manage a team of engineers and technical staff, including field and lab technicians
- Oversee the daily operations of the company
- Provide technical guidance on geological and geotechnical related issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Full PNL responsibility for meeting set budget(s) by the company, including staffing strategy by coordinating and working with our in-house recruiter for hiring, compensation decisions, utilization, invoicing, contract negotiations and profitability
- Direct, enforce and make any necessary changes to the company QA/QC practices/policies in the lab and in the field during the construction for our provided services
- Direct subsurface geotechnical investigations, geotechnical design recommendations, seismic and liquefaction evaluations, slope analysis and stabilization
- Serve as the geotechnical-of-record for projects under DSA (schools), HCAI (hospitals), and other projects as required
- Business development for expanding the business into other aspects of geotechnical engineering that are currently not or with limited volume of work within our services such as in infrastructure, hospitals, schools, and commercial structures.
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with our current clients, local state and federal agencies, project structural engineers, project architects and contractors
- Produce clear, concise, but with very limited liability and defensible geotechnical reports and agency response documents
- Mentor junior engineering and technical staff for delivering high technical standards, schedule performance and risk management.
- Other job duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or his designee
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
- A professional license in the geotechnical engineering field is required, preferably a licensed Geotechnical Engineer (GE) in the state of California.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the geotechnical or geological field
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and a sound technical background in soil and rock mechanics
