Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file accurate federal and California state tax returns for individuals and small businesses
- Review financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, and receipts to determine correct tax liability
- Advise clients on applicable tax-saving strategies, credits, and deductions
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of clients' personal and financial information
- Maintain compliance with IRS and CTEC regulations, including annual registration renewal and bond requirements
- Complete 20 hours of continuing education annually as mandated by CTEC
- Carry a valid $5,000 surety bond as required for CTEC registration
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members
- Utilize tax preparation software such as Drake, Turbo Tax, or Lacerte proficiently
- Follow ethical standards and legal guidelines when handling sensitive financial data
- Possess a solid understanding of federal and California state tax laws and filing procedures
- Exhibit excellent organizational skills to manage multiple client cases efficiently
- Apply analytical thinking to assess financial records and identify eligible deductions and credits
- Show attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tax calculations and documentation
- Communicate clearly and professionally to explain tax concepts and respond to client inquiries
