Eligible for a limited combination of telework and on-site assignments after 6 months of employment for employees in good standing. Telework must be completed from a pre-designated home-based location within the State of California; employees may be required to report on-site to address business needs. Telework discretion of the Court may be rescinded with 48 hours’ notice.
About Orange County Superior CourtEstablished in 1893, the court maintains jurisdiction over a wide range of matters, with flagship location Central Justice Center, Santa Ana, and additional courthouses in Orange, Newport Beach, Fullerton, and Westminster. It is the fifth‑largest trial court in the United States and the third‑largest court of general jurisdiction in California. The court has more than 140 judicial officers, over 1,500 staff, and an operating budget of nearly $280 million.
Aboutthe Opportunity
The Accounting and Fiscal Services Director directs, manages, oversees, and supervises a wide range of programs and activities within the Accounting and Fiscal Services unit, which includes General Accounting (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting and Audits, Payroll, Alternate Defense) and Fiscal Services (Financial Processing & Audits, Trust Accounting, Escheatment). The incumbent has responsibility for policy administration, personnel management, program management, cash control, budget, and administration within their assigned area.
The director coordinates activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders while providing professional support to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer.
The director is a single level professional classification reporting to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. The classification performs all related management functions, providing direction and supervision to management, supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative staff.
Required EducationGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, public administration, economics, accounting, or a closely related financial field. A copy of the college diploma or official transcripts must be included with the application.
Required ExperienceSeven (7) years of professional experience in public finance, accounting, cash management, banking, financial analysis, policy development, and financial administration, including five (5) years of direct supervisory experience in a management and/or administrative capacity.
Experience SubstitutionA master’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, economics, accounting, or a closely related financial field may substitute for one (1) year of required experience. Transcripts or certification must be included with the application to receive substitution credit.
Desired Qualifications / Experience- California trial court or public agency finance and budget experience.
- Experience successfully implementing several significant multi‑agency projects/initiatives.
- Possession of a valid Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification is highly preferred.
- Master’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, economics, accounting, or a closely related financial field is highly desirable.
- Availability to periodically work evenings and weekends, if needed.
