EEC is seeking a motivated Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team in Orange, CA. The Environmental Compliance Specialist at EEC will play a vital role in planning, executing, and coordinating project activities related to regulatory compliance, particularly in hazardous materials and waste management, petroleum storage tank compliance, air quality, stormwater, and wastewater programs. This role is client-focused and dynamic, requiring adaptability to meet client needs, regulatory requirements, and project deliverables.
The ideal candidate should have 5-10 years of general compliance experience, possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, be resourceful, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively. Travel to client sites may be required.
Duties- Support environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, identifying areas of improvement.
- Perform compliance assessments at commercial and industrial facilities, implementing corrective actions for federal, state, and local regulation adherence.
- Conduct environmental compliance audits and prepare audit reports following federal and state regulations.
- Evaluate regulatory applicability, conduct rule research, and interpretation.
- Meet regulatory reporting deadlines and track compliance.
- Conduct field inspections and audits.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and program manuals.
- Interact with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Identify business development opportunities.
- Provide regulatory guidance to clients and assist in maintaining compliance.
- Manage and communicate results, budget, and schedule information to clients, program managers, and company leadership.
- Identify new clients and develop additional work within existing projects or clients (business development).
Hazardous Waste and Materials Management
- Support hazardous waste and materials management programs to ensure compliance with state and federal, state, and applicable regulations.
- Provide guidance on the waste identification, classification, disposal, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Evaluate regulatory applicability, conduct rule research, and interpret requirements for clients.
- Conduct environmental compliance audits, with a focus on hazardous waste storage, transportation, disposal, and recordkeeping practices.
- Auditing hazardous waste and materials storage, disposal, and recordkeeping practices. Preparation of report with findings and recommendations.
- Inventory of hazardous waste and materials, annual reporting, and submittal to California Environmental Reporting System (CERS).
- Provide training to clients on hazardous materials handling, waste classification, and disposal requirements.
- Preparation and development of contingency and emergency response plans.
- Develop and implement hazardous waste management plans, including emergency response and contingency planning.
- Perform compliance assessments at commercial and industrial facilities, implementing corrective actions to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Perform compliance inspections of underground and above ground storage tank systems to ensure compliance with applicable storage tank regulations.
- Research, review, and analyze storage tank policy and regulations.
- Review and assess compliance practices and provide recommendation and strategies to improve compliance.
- Support regulatory compliance tasks relating to storage tank management.
- Track and coordinate compliance testing, inspections, tank maintenance and repairs.
- Research, review, and analyze storage tank policy and regulations.
- Support development of permit application packages.
- Prepare and review air quality management plans.
Review and assess compliance methodologies applied at a facility and provide recommendations and strategies to improve compliance.
- Manage facilities’ California Industrial General Permit and required due dates.
- Develop and implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
- Conduct stormwater sampling and reporting.
- Manage Cities’ Municipal Separate Storm and Sewer System (MS4) permits and requirements.
