Job Description

We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced adoption attorney who wants to build a practice from the ground up in a supportive, ethical environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping families navigate the adoption process, possesses strong business development skills, and is committed to the highest standards of professional and ethical practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and grow the firm’s adoption practice, including domestic, stepparent, and agency adoptions.
• Handle all aspects of adoption cases, from initial consultation through finalization.
• Prepare and file petitions, consents, notices, and related legal documents.
• Represent clients in court, mediations, and agency proceedings.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to support staff as the practice grows.
• Collaborate with the existing team to integrate adoption services into the firm’s overall offerings.
• Stay current on California adoption law and best practices.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar membership in good standing.
• Minimum 3–5 years of adoption and or Guardianship law experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build or manage a legal practice is a plus.
• Strong client-focused communication skills.
• Commitment to ethical, professional practice.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently.
