CNC Lathe Machinist

Location:

Orange, CA

Shift: 2nd shift (4/10 schedule) M-Th

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 [Hourly]

Leading precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist / Set-Up Operator. This role is responsible for setting up and running CNC lathe jobs for metal and plastic components produced to tight tolerances. The ideal candidate is hands-on, quality-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up CNC lathe machines using provided programs, including tooling layout, offsets, and fixtures
  • Install and adjust tooling to meet required setup and cycle times
  • Edit and optimize CNC programs at the machine to improve efficiency and part quality
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, clamps, and soft jaws for each job
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Monitor production runs and maintain quality standards throughout the process
  • Troubleshoot setup and machining issues to minimize downtime
  • Take ownership of part quality and ensure all work meets specifications
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC lathe setup experience, including lead or advanced setup responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of CNC lathe operations, tooling, and setup best practices
  • Proficient in using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with frequent changeovers
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety
