Your Role on the Team Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Nurse Manager, the supervisor supports the day‑to‑day operational oversight of the UCI Health System Capacity Command Center that houses Transfer Center, Bed Placement Coordinators, and Transport. The supervisor is directly responsible for overseeing both clinical and non‑clinical teams, ensuring adherence to policies, facilitating timely and safe interfacility and interlocution patient transfers, and overseeing patient flow operations at the facility level as it relates to bed placement.
The supervisor manages staffing, performance monitoring, workflow management, payroll, scheduling, and frontline issue resolution. This role supports data collection, monitors KPIs, and participates in quality improvement initiatives under the guidance of the Nurse Manager and ensures that the Transfer Center and Capacity Management maintain regulatory, patient safety, and institutional standards. Collaborates with ambulance vendors and transport to ensure the timely movement of patients within the system.
This role requires travel to community network sites to provide operational oversight, support staff, and ensure consistency in workflows, processes, and operational practices across locations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science, Nursing
Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Knowledge of Title 22, regulatory standards and EMTALA
Strong analytical skills to analyze data, review trends and activities, and make recommendations for improvement
Experience working in a transfer center or patient placement setting
Recent experience in an acute care setting
Strong knowledge of hospital operations, patient flow, and clinical processes.
Ability to be successful in a self‑directed, self‑motivated, fast‑paced environment with changing deadlines and priorities.
Ability to travel between hospitals
Licenses and CertificationsAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Registered Nurse (BSN)
Preferred QualificationsMaster of Science in Nursing or similar graduate degree
Prior experience as a nurse case manager or house supervisor
Prior experience managing a Transfer Center or Capacity Command Center
