The Nurse Practitioner Per Diem (43%) in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine & Palliative Medicine performs comprehensive care of patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings. The NP works under supervision of Alpesh Amin, MD, and follows policies and procedures. Responsibilities include care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. The NP may provide care in all Health licensed settings and affiliates and manages chronic medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved scope of practice.

• Functions as appropriate to scope of practice including management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures.
• Clarify privileges unique to each provider and perform duties within those privileges.
• Provide patient care across age groups appropriate to educational preparation at all Health licensed settings.
• Maintain standards of care for designated patient population; demonstrate self‑direction and accountability for quality of care.
• Credential and obtain Medical Staff privileges prior to first working day.
• Receive evaluations, feedback, and guidance from supervising physician, collaborating physicians, or Administrative Manager.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
• Diplomacy and flexibility when interacting with physicians, nurses, paramedical staff, administrators, and emergency or law‑enforcement officers.
• Excellent customer‑service skills.
• Clear communication of medical information in person and over the phone.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare clear medical reports and progress notes; maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
• Proficiency with specialized medical equipment and procedures.
• Adherence to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies for PHI and other sensitive information.
• Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

• Obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional privileges prior to hire.
