Job Description Summary
PI is looking for a Lab Technician with experience in organic chemistry, organic synthesis, analytical techniques for purification and characterization, and molecular biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture, to participate in a Chapman‑funded project. The successful candidate will assist with the synthesis, characterization, and purification of new molecules, in vitro cell culture, cell‑based assays, bench experiments, and data preparation. The candidate will need to be methodical when carrying out duties and generate reports to submit to the laboratory PI.
Responsibilities- Determine research methods and conduct research in peptide‑drug conjugate engineering for development of therapeutics
- Perform synthesis, characterization, and purification of new molecules
- Perform mammalian cell culture
- Perform in vitro assays using cancer cells
- Conduct laboratory experiments and procedures using established protocols, and assist with troubleshooting technical issues under guidance provided by the PI
- Assist with refining and optimizing laboratory procedures and workflows based on experimental observations and outcomes
- Compile, organize, and summarize experimental data for review and discussion with the PI and research team
- Help with lab supplies ordering
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Procure, receive, and/or maintain chemicals or laboratory supplies
- Ensure that safety guidelines are always adhered to in the laboratory
- Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions
- Proven experience working in laboratory and with organic synthesis techniques
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field or a combination of school and lab experience
- Proficient in research methods, testing and data collection, analysis, evaluation, and report writing
- Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.)
- Ability to perform the assigned work in a timely manner to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work individually and with a scientific team
- Bachelor’s Degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field
- Experience in cell lines and cell culture
