Laboratory Intern - Semi-Volatiles

Laboratory Intern - Orange, CA

Join a dedicated team of scientists and engineers  a Laboratory Intern, you will learn by doing, preparing samples, handling reagents, conducting assays, and supporting accurate, on‑time results while developing the standards that make it all work.

Compensation: $16.90/hr

Department: Semi‑Volatiles (SVOA)
Schedule: 40 hours/week during school breaks, 20 hours/week during semester
Working Days: Tuesday – Saturday, 2:00 pm – 10:30 PM
Internship Term: 6 months

• Preparing samples for digestion or extraction (e.g., weighing soils, making composites, crushing samples, incremental sampling, product sampling)
• Washing glassware
• Preparing reagents as needed
• Conducting simple water quality assays
• Data entry
• Performing support tasks as needed
• Complying with the Quality Assurance Program and other policies
• Complying with the Health and Safety Plan
• Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

• High School Diploma
• Currently enrolled in a local university
• Basic laboratory techniques (PPE, balance use, pipetting, glassware handling)
• Basic Excel skills
• Ability to follow directions and work in a team setting
• Comfortable working with strong acids and solvents
• Excellent communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Prior laboratory experience preferred but not required
• Knowledge of analytical methods, instruments, general lab practices and safety
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Good organizational skills and strong communication skills

• Sitting, standing, and walking
• Lifting up to 50 pounds routinely and handling smaller items throughout the day
• Work in an office and/or laboratory environment
