• Strong work ethic
• Oral and/or written references from colleagues and/or supervisors testifying to the candidate's qualifications
• A Bachelor's Degree and/or some post-high school education (Preferred)

It is essential that reading aides have demonstrated experiences:

• working with children (preferably in an educational setting)
• connecting with students
• collaborating with colleagues (preferably in an educational setting)
• adhering to student and staff privacy and confidentiality policies

In addition, it is critical that reading aides are willing to:

• Scientific-based reading instruction
• Social-emotional learning (to develop critical relationships with students)
• accept feedback
• provide small group scientifically research-based reading instruction to students requiring Tier 2 instruction

Collaborate with the school's reading team: principal, reading consultant, reading specialist, reading aide colleagues, and classroom teachers to:

• Plan classroom programming for students receiving Tier 1 and Tier 2 services
• Monitor progress of students receiving Tier 2 services
• Support teachers and students with computer-based reading programs and assessments (Lexia, STAR, DIBELS)
• Support small group classroom reading instruction

Work days follow the Orange Public Schools Student Calendar for a minimum of 5hours per workday.

Upon an evaluation that meets expectations, this will be a recurring yearly position.

The 2026/27hourly starting rate is $20.25
