Senior Advanced Project Engineer
, Honeywell – In this role, you will lead end‑to‑end development and launch of complex engineering projects that combine hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical engineering for our Building Automation Product Business. You will manage project scope and execution, deliver innovative solutions, and improve safety, reliability, and efficiency for our customers.
Reporting to the Engineering Program Management Director, you will work from Northford, CT on a hybrid schedule. You will lead cutting‑edge technologies projects in the Building Automation – Fire & Safety domain and apply advanced project management skills.
Responsibilities- Lead 3-4 concurrent global new product introduction programs, overseeing integrated hardware, firmware, and/or software, and/or mechanical product development in an agile development manner.
- Develop and maintain project release roadmaps, schedules, and budgets using MS Project or Smart Sheets, ensuring delivery within defined scope, cost, and time targets.
- Direct multi‑disciplinary cross‑functional engineering and operations teams (10-15+ across multiple sites), ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely execution.
- Define program scope and manage change control, including negotiations with stakeholders on program contracts and scope variations.
- Drive commercialization success, ensuring products meet ROI, cost, and business objectives while balancing technical feasibility.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively, while capitalizing on opportunities to improve program outcomes.
- Work along with integrated supply chain teams and manufacturing, ensuring readiness for production and successful design transfer into factory processes.
- Report program status to senior leadership, providing clear updates on milestones, risks, and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with Honeywell's product development process and tools and continuous improvement practices, applying structured problem‑solving to strengthen program results.
- Collaborate with commercial teams and, when required, engage directly with customers to align technical execution with business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, or engineering.
- 5+ years of program or project management experience managing complex engineering projects and leading cross‑functional teams.
- 3+ years of experience in product development with hardware/software integrated products and global development teams.
- Strong knowledge of engineering product development principles and project management methodologies.
- Proficiency with MS Project tool, including ability to create and maintain complex schedules, project plans and updates.
- Project Management certification is preferred.
- PMP certification.
- Six Sigma Greenbelt certification.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers at all organizational levels.
- Ability to lead, manage and energize cross‑functional teams across multiple sites.
- Ability to quickly assess unclear, complex, and ambiguous situations and reduce them into distinct, clear, timely, and stable direction for the development team.
- Skillful negotiation with stakeholders in tough situations.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
Annual base salary range: $133,000 - $166,000. Salary considered based on responsibilities, experience, skills, and market factors.
