Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer in the projects organization will be responsible for substation designs across major capital projects, while also contributing to engineering standards and training initiatives. This role will oversee the engineering activities for the assigned project portfolio, ensuring all work complies with applicable regulations, adheres to company standards, and is executed with consistency and technical excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Project detailed engineering, designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles including all phases such as: scoping and budgeting, conceptual engineering, engineering design, construction, and closeout.
  • Maintain & understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams, etc.).
  • Develop & specify equipment, assemble documents & other requirements for assignments of projects using depth & breadth of expertise in own discipline.
  • Perform electrical engineering analyses and design using established methods and principles.
  • Contribute to alternate design concepts under guidance to resolve challenges or improve processes.
  • Assist in solving engineering challenges by analyzing potential solutions using standard procedures related to lines and power systems.
  • Ensure all engineering designs implemented by the company meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Work independently although supervision might be required.
Qualifications
  • Theoretical Engineering knowledge – Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & calculation, understanding the business model;
    Global View of the Business.
  • Practical engineering experience/application – Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction (e.g. field experience, standardization); perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.
  • Engineering documentation – Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation;
    Ability to review engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment – Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements;
    Substation Material Selection;
    Substation Electrical Specifications;
    Physical Substation Design;
    Project Scoping and Estimating;
    Equipment Specifications;
    Construction and Outage Sequencing;
    Industry Codes, Standards, and Regulations.
  • General Skills / Competencies – Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving skills;
    Proven ability to effectively work in a team; strong communication and interpersonal skills; emerging leadership skills; general contract, commercial and regulatory awareness; track record of effective stakeholder and customer engagement; ability to communicate and present information at all levels; ability to manage competing priorities; awareness and understanding of key business drivers; ability to devise solutions to common and complex problems.
Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 3 years minimum relevant experience.
