Overview
The Infrastructure Specialist (Data Center) role supports Avangrid Networks’ data centers in Orange, CT, and surrounding regions. The position ensures safety, quality, and timely completion of equipment receipt, rack installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting activities, in support of the company’s critical SCADA systems.
Key Responsibilities- Provide timely responses to incidents, tasks, and requests to meet Service Level Agreements.
- Perform data center site inspections of Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, escalating tickets for service and maintenance.
- Install server racks, PDUs, servers, switches, storage, appliances, and related equipment; perform racking, stacking, labeling, cabling, initial configuration, and documentation.
- Maintain spare parts, cables, equipment inventories, and tracking systems.
- Ensure organized and clean inventory, storage, and data‑center spaces.
- Oversee third‑party vendors, ensuring compliance with Avangrid processes, procedures, and applicable laws/regulations; escort and monitor vendors lacking unescorted access.
- Perform maintenance and break‑fix of infrastructure technologies following the change management process.
- Participate in technical implementation plans for infrastructure technologies, working with internal clients, suppliers/contractors, project teams, and technical staff to design and support solutions.
- Participate in evaluation, selection, and testing of hardware and software products.
- Maintain regulatory compliance under NERC/CIP guidelines and uphold high‑quality security controls for critical SCADA systems.
- Perform special assignments from OSG Infrastructure leadership.
- Provide first‑shift weekday on‑site support and be available for 24x7 rotational on‑call support.
• Minimum of 2 years experience with enterprise‑grade computing hardware and enterprise data center operations.
• BS/BA in Business, Computer Science, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience and/or certifications acceptable under FLSA).
• Familiarity with data center terminology and standards, cable types, connectors, SFPs, etc.
• Understanding of security, computer hardware, software applications, data communication equipment, network diagrams, firewall rules, ports, and services.
• Knowledge of NERC‑CIP compliance regulations and policies; working understanding of requirements.
