Lead Line Engineer

Responsible for high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage transmission designs for The United Illuminating Company. Line designs include structural or electrical calculations, routing, and preparation of engineering drawings. The electric delivery system in Connecticut contains approximately 130 miles of transmission lines and 28 bulk electric supply substations. Position reports to the Unit Manager Line Projects but will work day-to-day in a cross functional project team and support project needs as dictated by the UI project manager(s).

Technical Skills/Competencies
• Theoretical Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model;
Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization)
• Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g., field experience, standardization "Perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.")
• Engineering documentation – Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation
• Ability to review and approve engineering work done by others - to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements
• Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment – Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements

Experience/Training:
• Engineering/Professional qualification or equivalent experience
• Experience in the delivery of projects, as necessary
• Relevant network construction and operational experience to include field inspections
• Computer literacy.

Required

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience.
• Professional Engineering License Preferred
