The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $96,400 to $120,500.

The engineer will lead teams/projects that solve moderately complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions and work independently with guidance. Position reports to the UI DER Unit Manager and supports department needs as required.

• Build solutions for moderately complex distributed generation (DG) problems (e.g., customer generators, photovoltaic systems, fuel cells).
• Approve, maintain, and understand drawings such as schematics, one-line diagrams, and site plans.
• Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents, and provide other requirements for assignments involving complex levels of difficulty, utilizing depth and breadth of expertise in the discipline.
• Manage and provide direction for resources outside of the department/company.
• Interpret DG industry processes and standards, recommend solutions and best practices, and perform electrical engineering analyses, designs, and calculations.
• Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or improve processes/services.
• Support technical requests from current and proposed customers regarding generator interconnections.
• Accept responsibility for personal safety and the safety and health of fellow employees.

• BS or BT in Engineering related field and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
• Basic knowledge of the various operating systems and programs used by the department.

• Diagnostic and problem‑solving skills to detect unique technical and analytical problems.
• Strong communication skills to articulate highly technical concepts.
• Extensive interpersonal skills to work as part of a team.
• General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to balance effective and efficient customer service and project delivery.
• Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
• Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels.
• Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgment to determine optimal solutions.
• Awareness and understanding of key business drivers.

• Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role within a utility environment (where appropriate).
