SAP Utilities Integration Architect – Role Overview
An SAP Utilities Integration Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and delivering end to end integration solutions across SAP IS U, S/4
HANA, billing, metering, device management, smart grid systems, and all related utility ecosystem applications. This role ensures reliable data exchange, stable operations, future proof architecture, compliance, and seamless business processes critical to utility operations.
- Utility Specific Integration Architecture Leadership
- Architect and govern SAP IS U integrations across Billing, FICA, Device Management (DM/AMI), Customer Service, Work Management, and grid/OT systems.
- Lead solution design for meter to cash, AMI integration (MDM HES Meter), outage management, market communications, GIS, WFM, and customer engagement systems.
- Define end to end integration touchpoints across Back Office (Billing, FICA, DM/AMI) and Front Office (Customer Service, Sales).
- Lead architecture for SAP PI/PO, SAP Integration Suite (CPI), B2B/EDI, API based integrations, hybrid multi cloud integration, and modernization of legacy landscapes.
- Use SAP ISA M (Integration Solution Advisory Methodology) to define integration styles (process, data, user, analytics, IoT), governance, and best practices.
- Define and enforce integration best practices, naming standards, error handling frameworks, API governance, and security policies.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements in the utilities sector (tariffs, market standards, cybersecurity, meter data management compliance).
- SAP IS U (Billing, FICA, DM/AMI, Customer Service, EDM)
- Hybrid integration platform design
- Ability to translate utility business processes into technical design
- Leadership, cross functional collaboration, and communication
- 12–18+ years in SAP integration; 7+ in utilities
- Prior utility integrations in AMI, grid modernization, CIS transformations
- Experience with SAP S/4
