Purpose

The Manager – Planning & Cost Control is responsible for managing schedules and related costs within the assigned UI Projects portfolio, including project cost, schedule, and risk. The Manager provides leadership and develops a team of Cost Controllers/Schedulers and reports directly to the Projects Director within UI’s Projects group. The leader collaborates closely with Unit Managers and Project Managers to ensure projects are delivered safely, ahead of schedule, and under budget.

Responsibilities
  • Manage cost and schedule control within the assigned CT Projects portfolio.
  • Generate and supervise periodic cost & schedule reports such as Progress and Earned Value Report, Critical Path, 6‑month look‑ahead, Cost Deviation analysis, etc.
  • Work with Project Managers and PMO to obtain and analyze portfolio performance, proactively identifying areas of risk.
  • Maintain current project schedules.
  • Ensure project team uses the standard project account and cost structures compliant with FERC and other regulations or customer requirements.
  • Support Directors, Managers, and Project Managers in developing ad‑hoc reporting requirements or documents for regulatory proceedings.
  • Supervise internal or external staff participation in project meetings, leveraging schedule time and cost analysis to drive performance.
  • Manage and maintain the risk profile within the UI Projects portfolio, obtain input from all team members, supervise and approve risk cost definitions and mitigation action plans, and ensure cost reconciliation and reporting are adequate for regulators and customers.
Skills and Requirements
  • Experience using cost and resource‑loaded schedules in Primavera.
  • Advanced utilization of Risk Management.
  • Experience in capital project cost projections, trends, budgeting, and accounting.
  • Focused on meeting customer reporting requirements.
  • Advanced use of SAP, writing queries, extracting data.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Results oriented.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of PMP principles and Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of main configuration and general arrangements of network infrastructures (substations and overhead lines).
  • Proven ability to lead and work in a team environment.
  • Team oriented.
  • Ability to think critically, generating reports and information required for regulatory filings and proceedings.
Experience / Training
  • 5 years’ experience in Project Controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Proficient in SAP.
  • Proficient in scheduling (P6 preferred).
  • Supervisory experience a plus.
Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Engineering, Economics, Business, or related field.
