Job SummaryThe Student Worker provides support to faculty, staff, and administration, assisting with daily operations, customer service, and special projects. This role requires a high degree of responsibility, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure smooth departmental functioning. A Student Worker is typically a part-time employee who balances work responsibilities with their academic commitments.
Their role often involves providing support to various departments within an organization, such as administrative, customer service, or technical assistance.
- Front Desk & Customer Service: greet visitors, answer phones, take messages, and respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff.
- Administrative & Clerical Tasks: perform data entry, filing, scanning, photocopying, sorting mail, and word processing.
- Event & Campus Support: assist with campus events (e.g., orientation, graduation, job fairs) including setup, teardown, and marketing.
- Record Confidentiality: handle sensitive student information with strict confidentiality in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Department‑
Specific Tasks:
laboratory cleaning, library organization, IT assistance, etc., depending on location.
- Student Status: must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester and work no more than 20 hours per week.
- Work Study: must be eligible for financial aid.
- Student Assistant: financial aid not required.
- Academic Standing: must maintain a 2.0 GPA or better.
- Communication: strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Computer
Skills:
proficiency in basic computer applications (email, MS Office). - Reliability: punctual, responsible, and capable of working without direct supervision.
Student workers are expected to demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and effective time management to succeed in their dual roles as students and employees.
