Job SummaryThis full‑time faculty position serves as the Program Director and primary instructor for the Electromechanical Technology Program. The position reports directly to the Department Chair of Manufacturing and involves curricular guidance, scheduling, course assignments, and industry relations, with a focus on preparing students for careers in industrial repair, mechatronics, maintenance, instrumentation, and machining.
Duties & Responsibilities- Primary duty is teaching courses in the Electromechanical Program such as AC/DC Motor Control, Machinery Installation, Programmable Logic Controllers, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Principles of Industrial Measurement, Basic Machine Shop, and Basic Electrical Theory in face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid formats.
- Plan and deliver classroom instruction, prepare course materials, supervise laboratory activities, and provide field‑based or off‑campus instruction as assigned.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through grading of tests, papers, examinations, research projects, and other assessments; report grades and participate in course and program assessment.
- Conduct assessment of Student Learning Outcomes for courses, department or program outcomes, and general education outcomes.
- Advise and counsel students on degree plans, registration, and course selection; supervise student activities related to the academic program.
- Select and procure books, films, and other instructional materials; recommend library holdings for ordering.
- Develop new courses and programs of study, including web‑based and other technology‑based instruction.
- Actively participate in curriculum development, establishing program and student learning outcomes, and reporting results as required.
- Schedule office hours (8:00‑5:00, including evenings when classes are in session) to counsel students and fulfill departmental, divisional, and institutional responsibilities.
- Engage in ongoing research and reading to maintain proficiency in the field.
- Attend professional development opportunities and maintain membership in professional associations.
- Participate in meetings, conferences, and conventions of professional associations.
- Support student success through commencement and related ceremonies; serve on institutional and affiliated committees.
- Participate in college‑wide assessment activities and recruitment efforts; interview and screen candidates for faculty and staff appointments.
- Advise and counsel students; coordinate and supervise student organizations not directly related to the academic program.
- Engage in community service or community projects.
Education:
- Associate’s degree, College Certificate, or Industry‑Recognized Credential, or equivalent relevant training, required.
- Fields of study may include, but are not limited to:
Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Process Technology, Manufacturing.
Experience:
- Teaching and/or training experience preferred; minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required.
Industrial maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing electromechanical systems, working in manufacturing and industrial settings, commitment to and experience with safety in industrial settings.
Physical RequirementsAmbulatory; cognitive; normal speech/communication; normal written communication; normal or corrected visual and hearing; moderate travel; frequent standing and sitting; moderate lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 20 pounds; operation of a personal computer and other office equipment; infrequent stooping, bending, sorting, and filling.
