Job Summary

This position is a full-time faculty position for an instructor in the Instrumentation Program. This position reports directly to the Program Director of Instrumentation.

The role places a major emphasis upon teaching, scholarship, and service. Faculty will be expected to teach assigned classes, schedule office hours, counsel students, and fulfill departmental, divisional, and institutional obligations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach courses within the Instrumentation Program:
    Physics of Instrumentation, Flow and Measurement Calibration, Principles of Industrial Measurement, AC/DC Motor Control, Solid State Circuits, etc.
  • Prepare, supervise, and instruct in classrooms, online, or hybrid venues.
  • Provide field‑based or off‑campus instruction.
  • Design, prepare, and supervise laboratories.
  • Assess student performance: prepare, administer, grade, and evaluate tests, papers, examinations, research projects, and report grades.
  • Conduct assessment and evaluation of Student Learning Outcomes for each course, department or program outcomes, and general education outcomes.
  • Advise students on degree plans, registration, and course assistance.
  • Coordinate and supervise student activities directly related to the academic program.
  • Conduct experiments in teaching methods and teaching‑oriented research.
  • Participate actively in curriculum development, establish program and student learning outcomes, and report results as required.
Professional Development and Pedagogy Advancement
  • Read and research to maintain proficiency in professional specialization.
  • Attend professional development opportunities as required.
  • Hold membership or office in professional associations.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and conventions of professional associations.
Service
  • Assist with student success and participate in commencement ceremonies.
  • Serve on institutional and affiliated committees.
  • Serve on professional association committees.
  • Participate in college‑wide assessment activities.
  • Participate in institutionally sponsored activities to recruit students.
  • Interview and screen candidates for faculty and staff appointments.
  • Coordinate, advise, and supervise student organizations or activities not directly related to the academic program.
  • Advise and counsel students.
  • Participate in sponsored community service or community projects.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned by College Administration.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate’s degree, College Certificate, Industry Recognized Credential, or equivalent relevant training.
  • Experience:

    Teaching and/or training experience preferred; minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required.
Supplemental Information
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Electrical theory, AC/DC Motor Control, Solid State circuits, troubleshooting, experience in manufacturing/industrial settings, commitment to safety.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Ambulatory; normal speech/communication; normal written communication; normal or corrected visual acuity; normal or corrected hearing; moderate travel; frequent standing and sitting; moderate lifting up to 20 pounds; use of personal computer and office equipment; infrequent stooping, bending.
  • Security Sensitive:
    Position is security‑sensitive under Texas Education Code §51.215.
  • Working Conditions:

    Normal office environment.
