Job Summary

Provides meaningful and engaging studio art programs and educational experiences at the Stark Museum of Art for Pre‑K-12 school students and the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide curriculum-based studio art experiences for Pre‑K-12 school students onsite, offsite, and digitally.
  • Develop and facilitate Summer Art Quest camps for Pre‑K-5 students.
  • Develop and facilitate CREATE! Workshops for multi‑generational audiences (first grade – adult).
  • Develop and facilitate Adult Studio Art Workshops for adults ages 16 and older.
  • Manage art supplies, maintain classroom spaces, and gallery Education Areas.
  • Assist Education Department in other programming duties as assigned, including school programming, community outreach, public programming, digital programming, community gallery exhibitions, and visitor research.

  • Provide courteous, professional, timely and accurate service and support to all visitors, vendors, volunteers and co‑workers.
  • Give and welcome feedback; contribute to building a positive team spirit, able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
  • Work within approved budget.
  • Follow policies and procedures; maintain appropriate records, complete administrative tasks correctly and on time.
  • Maintain proficiency in all computer‑related programs to perform job duties.
  • Follow safe work procedures; ensure all employees follow safe work procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions; see that all equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
  • Observe scheduled work hours.

Experience

Teaching experience or experience working with children such as camp counseling or after school care, studio art experience, museum experience desired (volunteer or internship experience acceptable).

Education

High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree and college studio art coursework preferred.

Interpersonal Skills

Must be able to interact professionally with diverse groups of individuals, from pre‑school children to senior citizens. Requires the ability to manage groups of children and/or adults. Requires ability to display tact and discretion, consistent demonstration of good judgment, and an ability to listen and learn. Requires ability to interact professionally and appropriately with visitors and co‑workers. Must be a team player able to work comfortably and effectively in cross‑functional teams.
