Job Purpose / SummaryUnder general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a good working knowledge of various power plant technical systems. Responsibilities include performing instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical work for inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, adjustment, and calibration of instrumentation and electrical equipment. The incumbent will complete routine (planned maintenance) and unplanned (corrective maintenance) activities to support plant reliability, including unscheduled call‑out repairs overnight and on weekends.
Responsibilities/
Job Duties
- Troubleshoot, identify, maintain, and repair power plant equipment, performing lockout/tagout per the Fossil Tagging Procedure.
- Use mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and electrical equipment in power plants.
- Be familiar with operation of steam boilers, turbo generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators, electrical distribution systems, and balance of plant systems.
- Comply with all Fossil Safety Procedures and Policies.
- Step‑up to Temporary Supervisor as needed.
- Work overtime and accommodate unusual and normal plant working conditions.
- Perform water chemistry analysis and adjust chemical feeds or blow‑down rates in coordination with operations and water treatment vendors.
- Install new control system equipment and use electrical and control system test equipment.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Desired:
Associates Degree in I&C, Electrical, or equivalent technical degree.
- Maintenance Operator III: 2‑3 years in operations or similar field.
- Maintenance Operator: 3 years in operations or similar field.
- IC&E Technician: 5 years power plant experience or equivalent experience in a plant similar to a power plant.
- Desired:
Experience in operation and maintenance of distributed control systems.
- Diagnose and repair instrument and control system malfunctions, including transmitters, gauges, switches, control valves, pneumatic actuators, PLCs, and various sensors.
- Install instrumentation tubing (bending, cutting, Swagelok fittings) and troubleshoot fiber optics.
- Read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, flow diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems: breakers, motor starters, motors, switch gear, and motor control centers.
- Read prints and schematics and troubleshoot and maintain plant electrical and I&C equipment.
- Install electrical systems, conduit, panels, junction boxes, terminal strips, and terminate connections.
- Lift up to 100 lbs and carry 50 lbs.
- Climb scaffolds, stairs, and ladders.
- Team oriented, self‑motivated, initiative, and able to perform tasks independently.
- Basic computer knowledge for Entergy Fossil applications and maintenance management systems.
- Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS test.
