Chemist, Waste Process Planning

As a Chemist, Waste Process Planning you will be responsible for overseeing the waste scheduling process for an incinerator, ensuring safe and compliant waste processing operations. This role will work closely with scheduling, transportation, laboratory and operations teams to properly evaluate waste streams and schedule disposal effectively.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Schedules bulk tanker waste into the facility by partnering with Arcwood Scheduling and Transportation personnel
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal parties involved in the waste scheduling process
  • Evaluates incoming hazardous waste for disposal via tanks/direct burn into the incinerator based on physical and chemical compatibility and hazards
  • Coordinates with facility Operations to determine tank suitability and availability to store and/or process hazardous waste
  • Supports the pre-acceptance of waste into the facility by coordinating samples from Approvals and the onsite Laboratory; ensures results are communicated appropriately
  • Maintains laboratory reagents and supplies, completing ordering as needed from approved suppliers
  • Schedules instrument preventative maintenance and performs instrument troubleshooting as needed
  • Performs quality control of completed laboratory analysis prior to releasing loads for offloading
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education

- Bachelors degree in chemistry or related field (required)

Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a quality control laboratory (required)
  • 2+ years of experience in the hazardous waste industry (preferred)
  • Previous experience working with laboratory instruments such as ICP-OES and ion chromatography (preferred)
