The Stores Materials Management Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily storeroom and materials management operations, ensuring accurate inventory control, timely material availability, and compliance with organizational policies. This role supervises stores personnel, coordinates with purchasing and operations teams, and ensures materials are received, stored, issued, and tracked efficiently to support uninterrupted operations.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Supervise receiving, storage, issuing, and distribution of materials and supplies
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP or inventory management systems
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate replenishment to prevent shortages or overstock
  • Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate and resolve variances
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of materials (including hazardous items, if applicable)
  • Lead, train, coach, and evaluate stores/materials staff
  • Develop work schedules and assign daily tasks to meet operational needs
  • Enforce workplace safety standards and company policies
  • Promote continuous improvement and accountability within the team

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards (OSHA, environmental, quality systems, etc.)
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe storeroom environments
  • Support audits (internal and external) related to inventory and materials handling

Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Operations, Maintenance, and Finance teams
  • Resolve materials-related issues impacting production or service delivery
  • Communicate inventory status, shortages, and lead times to stakeholders

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Prepare inventory and operational reports (usage, turns, shortages, KPIs)
  • Analyze inventory data to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, standard operating procedures, and best practices
Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive materials management strategies aligned with the companys overall objectives
  • Lead procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management
  • Oversee inventory levels, minimizing excess or obsolete stock while ensuring an uninterrupted flow of materials to meet production requirements
  • Manage the logistics and distribution processes, coordinating with transportation providers to optimize delivery schedules
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal departments such as production, quality control, and finance
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the materials management function
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 3–5 years of experience in materials management, storeroom operations, or inventory control Chemical Plant Petro chemical and refineries exp. Required
  • 1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control methods and materials management best practices
  • Proficiency in SAP, MM and PM Modules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of Industrial spare parts

WE VALUE

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to lift and move materials (typically up to 30 lbs.)
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Possible exposure to warehouses or industrial environments
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP)
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
  • Experience managing regulated or safety‑critical inventories

COMPENSATION
