Position Overview
The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations at the Chem
32 facility by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems. This role works closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to minimize downtime, support continuous process operations, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements. Experience in chemical manufacturing, refining, petrochemical, or other continuous process environments is highly transferable to this role.
What You Will Be Doing
- I nstall, maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair instrumentation and electrical systems that support continuous plant operations
- Perform preventive maintenance and calibration on process analyzers and analyzer systems, transmitters, motors, control devices, and diagnostic equipment, as well as
- Diagnose electrical and instrumentation issues to determine root cause of equipment or system failures within operating units
- Coordinate work activities with Operations to minimize impact to production and process stability
- Install and modify conduit, wiring, control panels, motors, valves, and power distribution equipment, and test circuits and systems using appropriate electrical testing instruments to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Support the installation, commissioning, startup, and monitoring of new or upgraded equipment and technology, document maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and inspections using SAP and other plant systems
- Order replacement parts using SAP and coordinate with vendors as needed
- Support environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Perform in accordance with site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and required PPE, with participation in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with five years of instrumentation and electrical experience in a chemical, refinery, petrochemical, or other continuous process manufacturing environment
- Proven working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, and process control equipment
- Hands-on experience with process analyzers, sampling systems, and analyzer troubleshooting in chemical or refining operations
- Experience performing calibration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting in operating units
- Familiarity with SAP is preferred
- A strong commitment to safety, accountability, and teamwork is required
