South Tank Farm Supervisor/Operator

The Supervisor/Operator is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the South Tank Farm and Utilities Area in accordance with approved operating procedures, specifications, current work instructions, and assigned training requirements. The Supervisor/Operator must understand and follow applicable safety, environmental, maintenance, electrical and instrumentation, and operating procedures required to operate and maintain assigned equipment and processes. The Supervisor/Operator assists with operating equipment, monitoring process conditions, documenting unit activity, communicating operating status, and supporting material movements as needed to maintain safe unit operation.

The Supervisor/Operator must be able to read and understand procedures, permits, operating instructions, lab data, and other necessary information to support safe and efficient unit operation.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and operate the South Tank Farm Operations
  • Communication with all parties will be a major role in operating the South tank Farm.
  • Follow approved operating procedures, work instructions, safety procedures, environmental procedures, and assigned training requirements
  • Safety awareness/ Routinely check and be able to activate Fire water system
  • Environmental duties
  • Operate, monitor, and support equipment and processes in the South Tank Farm and Utilities Area.
  • Monitor and maintain Air Compressor system
  • Perform minor E & I and maintenance activities.
  • Record prescribed logs, readings, and operating data accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve, review, and record lab data needed to support unit operation.
  • Communicate operating conditions, abnormal situations, and equipment concerns to other Supervisors Operators and Management.
  • Assist with material movements between plant areas as needed to maintain unit operation.
  • Write work orders, prepare equipment for maintenance, and assist with inspection and acceptance of completed work.
  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping to support area safety and product quality.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents involving fires, spills, releases, or other abnormal conditions.
  • Assist with training and guidance of newly assigned personnel as directed.
  • Handle hazardous waste and materials in accordance with applicable procedures and training.
  • Receive and unload raw materials, including completion of required documentation.
  • Complete an informative and proper shift relief to support continued safe plant operation.
  • Maintain open communication with operators, supervisors, and management.
  • Perform all listed tasks and any other duties consistent with job factors as required or assigned by management.

The Supervisor/Operator manages the Utilities / South Tank Farm Area and performs assigned duties under the direction of Management.

Process equipment includes tanks, pumps, compressors, flares, filters, piping, instrumentation, hand tools, and all other tools or equipment consistent with job factors or that may be requested by supervision.

Must complete and pass all required training as assigned by Lion Elastomers, LLC. Must be able to wear and use all required personal protective equipment including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, and hand protection per assigned area and plant procedures. Must know the location and be familiar with the operation of all safety equipment in the assigned areas.

Must know and follow all safe operating procedures for the assigned areas. The Supervisor/Operator is responsible for the Operator in Charge (OIC) duties in area procedures and permits.

Must be capable of bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pulling, pushing, walking, climbing, lifting or other requirements consistent with area procedures or job factors that may be requested by supervision. Normal hearing and vision required. Working conditions may include confined spaces, exposure to chemicals, noise, heat, cold, and smoke/fires. Must be alert and able to follow several items at the same time. Must be able to read/write/understand safety regulations and understand the meaning of chemical health hazards. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, understand basic mathematics, pressure and temperatures relating to the operation of the assigned units. Must be able to work in accordance to the employee handbook, Company and Plant Policies.
