Overview

A security guard's job is to monitor a property for safety and security, and to respond to any emergencies. Security guards are often the first to notice and act on security issues.

• Patrol:
  Regularly inspect and patrol the premises.
• Monitor:
  Monitor surveillance cameras, entrances, and exits.
• Control access:
  Authorize who can enter and exit the property.
• Respond to alarms:
  Respond to alarms and other emergencies in a timely manner.
• Report:
  Report any suspicious activity, incidents, or irregularities.
• Provide assistance:
  Assist people in need, provide information, and guide traffic.
• Secure:
  Secure doors, windows, and other entrances.
• Complete reports:
  Document all observations and incidents in reports.
• Be a deterrent:
  Be a visible deterrent to crime and rule infractions.

• Communication:
  Have excellent communication skills.
• Proactive:
  Be proactive and attentive during working hours.
• Independent:
  Be able to work independently.
