Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under limited supervision, the Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel and assets at the assigned job site. The officer enforces safety and security measures, performs regular vehicular and/or foot patrols of assigned premises, conducts access control duties, operates and monitors CCTV equipment, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures.

The general responsibilities of the position are listed below; the company may identify additional duties as needed and assignments may vary depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle searches (random inspections) that may involve feeling and detecting objects and walking over uneven terrain for long periods.
  • Confront suspicious persons, assess intentions and take appropriate action.
  • Execute rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters.
  • Extinguish fires using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate methods.
  • Efficiently and coherently communicate over radio channels during initiation and responses.
  • Collect investigative information through interviews and obtain statements of all participants, then document findings accurately.
  • Read, comprehend and apply policies and procedures.
  • Respond correctly to oral information.
  • Operate a motor vehicle during day and night shifts in urban and rural settings.
  • Conduct visual surveillance for extended periods.
  • Observe, recall and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, locations, and property, noting colors, shapes, sizes, height, weight, abnormalities and changes.
  • Execute post orders, enforcing client and company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance and wear the assigned uniform (provided).
  • Remain in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
  • Report back to work as needed for emergent matters.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Work at various locations as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation to/from the work site.
  • Military, law enforcement or security experience preferred, but not required.
  • State Unarmed Security Officer License or ability to obtain.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, understanding and writing English.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation, drug screen and a post‑offer physical evaluation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement, military police, corrections or private security within the past five years. Military experience in an applicable specialty may be substituted for law enforcement experience.
  • Experience working in a refinery or plant.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Certification in First Aid & CPR, refinery safety standards.
  • Conversational Spanish.
